Public Talk: On Gapan
For Yolnu people in Arnhem Land, gapan has diverse cultural, artistic and spiritual significance. For instance, gapan can make you visible to the spirit world, it can be symbolic of the saltspray and foam of the ocean, or the clouds which hold the spirits moving, and is a cosmetic which leaves your skin smooth for days after dancing. Join senior Yolnu artist and elder, Naminapu Maymuru-White, and Buku-Larrnggay Mulka Art Centre Manager, Edwina Circuitt as they share an insight into this unique material.
