Mischer’Traxler & Berndnaut Smilde – Regional Residency
Design studio Mischer’Traxler and contemporary artist Berndnaut Smilde both draw inspiration from the natural world. Mischer’Traxler create evocative interactive installations that highlight the fragility of nature and question humankind’s relationship to it, while Smilde looks to evoke transitory natural phenomena in the tradition of European Romanticism. For the final Goods Shed residencies of 2016, in December this year,, FORM has invited these internationally-acclaimed creatives to turn their sensibilities to the dramatic landscapes of Western Australia’s Pilbara and Great Southern regions. This will be the first time any of them has travelled to Australia, and their first opportunity to encounter the uniquely harsh beauty of the country’s remote landscapes. Outcomes from both residencies will show at The Goods Shed in 2017.
